Summit City Bicycles & Fitness along with Park Tool is once again offering the Park Tool School. Service Manager Tim Wegner with over 25 years experience as a mechanic and ten years teaching his own class will teach you how to work on your own bike. In a classroom setting with hands on work, you can learn how to fix a flat tire, adjust your gears, true your rims, or install a new crankset and many other skills. Tim has worked at Summit City Bicycles & Fitness as one our best bicycle mechanics for the last 15 years. He trains new employees in proper technique for new bicycle assembly. He also specializes in custom Road and Cyclocross builds, is our resident Campagnolo expert, Shimano Di2 certified, WD40 Bike Wrench of the Month (August 2013), tubular tire expert, as well as The QuikStik fastest tire changer in the United States. From basic to advanced, Tim can teach you about bicycle maintenance.


Elite Class

Time: 12 hours, 2 to 4 sessions
Cost: $360.00 Special discount on tools and accessories
Curriculum: This course covers a wide range of topics with much depth. The participants will have a wide variety of skills after completing this clinic. Areas covered include: derailleurs, brakes, wheel truing, bearing adjustments, on trail/road repairs, bike cleaning, and lubrication.
A Park Tool School textbook and shop apron is included at no charge.

Winter 2015

Four Mondays:  February 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd.  Four classes, three hour sessions each.  6pm to 9pm.  Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection.

Four Wednesdays:  January 14th, 21st, 28th & February 4th. 6pm to 9pm.  Four classes, three hour sessions each.  6pm to 9pm.  Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection.


Beginner Class

Time: 6 hours, 2 to 3 sessions
Cost: $180.00 Special discount on tools and accessories
Curriculum: This course covers a wide range of topics with less detail. Basic skills are covered (wheel installation, lubrication, cleaning, tool usage, fixing a flat) as well as brakes, derailleur, and basic wheel truing.
A Park Tool School textbook is included at no charge.

Fall 2014

 Three Mondays:  Session I:  October 20th, 27th & November 3rd.  

 Three Mondays:  Session II:  November 10th, 17th & 24th.

 Three classes, two hour sessions each. 6pm to 8pm.  Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection. 

Three Tuesdays:  Session III:  December 3rd, 10th & 17th.  

 Three classes, two hour sessions each. 6pm to 8pm. Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection. 

Two Saturdays:  Session IV:  November 8th & 15th.  

 Two classes, three hour sessions each.  9am to 12 noon.  Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection.

Drive Train Clinic

Time: 4 hours, 1 to 2 sessions
Cost: $120.00 Special discount on tools and accessories
Curriculum: This course covers the drive train adjustments and service of the crankset, pedals, chainrings, chain, cassette, shift levers, cables, front and rear derailleur, but does not cover any bearing adjustments.
A Park Tool School textbook is included at no charge.

Fall 2014

Two Tuesdays:  Session One:  October 30th & November 6th.  Two classes, two-hour sessions, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Please arrive twenty minutes early for the first class for your individual bike inspection.

 Introduction Class/Flat Tire Clinic

Time: 1 hour, 1 session
Cost: $20.00
Curriculum: This course will teach you about your new bicycle or about your current bike. Topics include: Wheel
Installation, flat repair, cleaning, and lubrication, and a pre ride checklist. This course will give you enough information to make your riding more enjoyable and allow you to make ride more intelligently by knowing how your bike works.

PARK TOOL SCHOOL
FALL/WINTER 2014/2015 SCHEDULE 

 Classes will be held at Summit City Bicycles & Fitness. Please call to schedule class time.

• Please arrive ten minutes early for an initial inspection of your bicycle.
• Bring your bike, you will be working on your own bicycle.
• Tools will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own. That way I can tell what you have and what you might need to successfully fix your bicycle.
• Note taking is encouraged, although the textbook is very informative.
• Custom classes are available, just ask.
• No one will be left behind. We will work at your pace until you understand the concept and can execute the repair.
• Some classes can be taught in small groups of two to four. Ask about group discounts. Please remember though, the more students, the longer it will take to teach and perform each skill. I will not move on until everyone understands the concept.

Payment is due before the first session.  Cash or checks are accpeted, make checks payable to Tim Wegner.  Satifaction guaranteed.  You will learn.
